Aasimar

Aasimar rebel: too cool to wear white
Aasimars are humans with a significant amount of celestial or other good outsider blood in their ancestry. Aasimars are not always good, but it is a natural tendency for them, and they gravitate to good faiths or organizations associated with celestials. Aasimar heritage can hide for generations, only to appear suddenly in the child of two apparently human parents. Most societies interpret aasimar births as good omens. Aasimars look mostly human except for some minor physical trait that reveals their unusual heritage. Typical aasimar features are hair that shines like metal, unusual eye or skin color, or even glowing golden halos.

Aasimars have the following racial traits:
+2 Charisma, +2 Wisdom Aasimars are insightful, confident, and personable. Their otherworldly vibe often draws people to follow them.
Medium Creature
Planetouched: An Aasimar’s creature type is Outsider: (Native). He is still considered ‘Humanoid’ for the purpose of spells and abilities.
Pure Soul: +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Sense Motive checks.
Guiding Light: Can cast Daylight 1/day (caster level equals the aasimar’s class level) Can cast Light centered just over his head at will as a spell like ability, in a halo shape. While using this ability, an Aasimar does not need a divine focus to cast divine spells.
Angelic Resistance: Resistance 5 to negative energy
Sacred blood: An Aasimar always counts as ‘Good’ for all spell effects regardless of his actual alignment. He will never lose Paladin or Cleric abilities even after committing evil acts, and may continue to gain levels in those classes even if his alignment changes.
Languages: Aasimars begin play speaking Common and Celestial.

World Specific Info

Long ago, or so religious scripture says, angels descended to the earth to bring LAW and GOOD to all the races, teaching and bestowing blessings to many. Some of the angels fell in love with the mortals, and so a few gave up their immortality to live a single life with humanity. Thus, the first aasimar (meaning ‘new birth’ in celestial) were born.

When using divine magic, their outsider blood becomes more apparent.

The aasimar and their mortal kin formed a village atop a distant holy mountain, and it is said to be very near paradise to live there. The aasimar consider it their sacred duty to help humanity, and many travel to Riva or the surrounding countries to fight evil or help rebuild. There have been documented reports of aasimar sometimes being born to others, usually pious woman who are barren or otherwise unable to have children. Whether they come from the holy mountain in pilgrimage, or are a random miracle in a small town, aasimar are considered destined individuals, and are treated with adoration and sometimes worship. Colloquially, aasimar are referred to as ‘the Blessed’ and are generally welcomed by the pious, but shunned or excluded by more dubious and worldly people.

If there is a darker side to the Aasimar, it is that unwavering determination which can lead to self-righteousness. They are taught that Tieflings are corrupting humanity and destined for hell, and will often smite them on sight. Most Aasimar are good- they are usually raised with love, and have an inner desire to protect others and fight evil. However they are still human, in part, and they sometimes seek an easier life free from the pressure to do great deeds and religious rigidness making many favor Neutrality. Convinced by their blessings they can do no wrong, evil Aasimar will commit atrocities in the name of the greater good. Evil Aasimars are hunted by their kin as soon as their fall is discovered, for only death and damnation can take a divine blessing away from those with angel blood. Whether good, evil or something in between, aasimar are usually lawful due to ingrained feelings about divine providence, and their belief in humanity at large.

Classes
Divine blessings come easily to Aasimar, and many powerful Paladins and Clerics are called from their race. They can also become powerful sorcerers with their Celestial bloodline. Some Aasimar show their devotion to the earth by following druidic teachings. Rogue aasimar are unheard of as they lack the guile and sneakiness needed for such a path, and ranger is rare as they usually find skirmishes and hit-and-run tactics distasteful.
